Biography

After emerging as an athlete in an Ambo youth training center, Senbere Teferi achieved her first international success in 2011 at the World Youth Championships. Following several victories in the Ethiopian domestic scene international triumph began in the form of an African junior record in the 2000 meters at the Golden Spike Ostrava meet in 2015. The following season she battled through injury to lead Ethiopia to a 2015 IAAF World Cross Country Championship and a second place individual finish.

In her debut half marathon in February 2018, Teferi was first to break the tape in 1:05:45, breaking the Ethiopian national record along the way. She has a bright future ahead of her on the road.
