Biography

Ruti Aga exemplifies the training style that yields stable, incremental improvements, and subsequently prodigious results. Her career really took off in 2012, when she placed second in the World Championship 5000 meter race in Barcelona. Gradually, she moved up in distance, and eventually to the roads, winning two consecutive Houston Half Marathons in 2018 and 2019.

Despite three consecutive podium finishes in the Berlin Marathon – in 2016, 2017, and 2018 – Aga did not immediately attain the coveted gold. However, a course of consistent training enabled her to bear the fruits of her perseverant labor when she won the 2019 Tokyo Marathon.
