Biography

There are two words that come to mind when people think of Roza Dereje: durable and fast. The accomplished marathoner raced six marathons during the two year period 2016 – 2017, winning the Shanghai Marathon two consecutive times, and placing in the top six at the rest of her races.

In 2018, when Dereje won the Dubai Marathon in a late breakaway she not only took control of the marathon, but also posted a new personal best and course record in her doing. Further, her new personal best time was the 5th successive improvement in the course of her career. Her combination of stability and toughness indicate a bright future.
